Easter Chick Drawstring Bag Free Pattern
Fill this fun Easter chick with whatever you please. The finished bag is approximately 5” high when flat, not including the legs.

Materials you’ll need for this project:
– Approx. 10-20 yards of White and Yellow Bernat Premium yarn
– A small amount of Orange and Black Bernat Premium yarn
– 5mm hook
– darning needle
Gauge:
Ch12.
Row 1 – Hdc into third ch from hook and across. (10sts)
Rows 2 – 3 – Ch2, turn. Hdc across. (10sts)
7sts and 5 rows in 2”
Abbreviations:
Ch – Chain
Hdc – Half double crochet
FLO – Front Loops Only
BLO – Back Loops Only
Slst – Slip stitch
This pattern is written using US terminology.
Let’s begin!…
Make a magic circle, with white, and 5mm hook…

Round 1 – Ch1, Hdc10 into circle. Join with a slipstitch. (10sts)
Round 2 – Ch1. 2Hdc in each stitch around. Join. (20sts)
Round 3 – Ch1, *2Hdc in the first st, 1hdc in the next.* Repeat * to * around. Join. (30sts)
Round 4 – Ch1. *2hdc in the first st, 1hdc in the next 2 sts.* Repeat * to * around. Join. (40sts)
Rounds 5-7- Ch1. Hdc in each stitch around. (40sts)
Round 8 – Ch1, in FLO. *Dc1, hdc1, slst1, hdc1* repeat * to * around. Join. (40sts)
Round 9 – Join with Yellow in the back loop of the previous row. Hdc1 in each
back loop around. Join. (40sts)
Rounds 10-12 – Ch1. Through both loops again. Hdc around. Join. (40sts)
Round 11 – Join with White. Ch1. Sc around. Join (40sts)
Round 12 – In FLO. Repeat Row 8. Tie off. (40sts)
Round 13 – Join once again with White to the back loops of the previous round. Ch1. hHdc around. Join. (40sts)
Round 14-16 – Ch1. Going through both loops, hdc around. Join. (40sts)
Round 17 – Ch1. *Sc1, ch1, skip1, sc1 in the next stitch.* Repeat * to * around.
Join. Tie off. (40sts)
Handles
Ch. 90 with white for the handles. Weave it through the holes we just made in round 17 until the two ends meet. Sew the ends together. Pull out a handle on opposite ends of the bag to make 2 handles.
Now to add some fun!
Eyes
For the eyes cut a length of black yarn. Tie a knot 3 times at the same spot and it will give you a nice eye ‘ball’.
Sew it on and repeat.
Beak
With orange.
Ch.2. Dc into the first ch space. Slip stitch into the same space. (the first chain). Tie off. Sew on.
Hopefully this picture helps clarify where you complete the slip stitch.
Legs
Ch.15
To make the toes, slip stitch into the 2nd ch from the hook. Slst2 more. *Ch.3, slst3.* The 3rd slst will be back into the same ch space as the first ‘toe’.
There is a picture below, once again to show where to slip stitch into .
Repeat * to * one more time.
Slst down the rest of the chain. Tie off. Sew into the center bottom of the bag.
