Turn Your Phone Into a Vision Board

Still unsure what is a vision board is? Basically, it’s a collage of pictures or phrases that express your heart’s desires and life aspirations. Pictures that inspire you, motivate and encourage you.

But it needs to be more than a board of course. For you to actually achieve you must work. You must stay focused.

Vision boards help to give you FOCUS.

“Successful people maintain a positive focus in life no matter what is going on around them. They stay focused on their past successes rather than their past failures, and on the next action steps they need to take to get them closer to the fulfillment of their goals rather than all the other distractions that life presents to them.”
Jack Canfield

A vision board will help you determine what’s really important to you and your ultimate goals

Focus is such an essential skill, and why vision boards can be so effective. They grab your attention, stir your desires, and call you to action.

Everyday we are surrounded by things competing for our attention. When creating your vision board you’re encouraged to really stop and think about what’s important to you. Your greatest desires and goals. Then your vision board will help redirect your thoughts and efforts to achieving them. Especially when you’re going through hard times, because we all do… remembering and revisiting our purpose and goals is comforting and motivating.

Why make one on your phone?

A carboard vision board could soon just become something else to toss in the recycling, along with all the magazines you destroyed in the creation process. But don’t be upset if you’re at this moment tossing an old vision board into the trash. Create a quick, easy board on your phone! You’ll never have to throw it out, it can grow along with you.  Which is ideal, because goals and aspirations change.

You can create a short-term goal focused board, or a long-term goals board.

Because of all those well-known daily distractions, it’s easy for your goals to fall by the wayside.  We’ve all had those New Year Resolutions that didn’t remain very resolute.  Having an editable accessible vision board on your phone can keep you on it.

Revisit your short-term vision board once a month. Many of us get bored easily. Or sometimes, things change, you learn something new, or meet someone that effect your current goals or how you plan to work towards them. If you are re-visiting, re-assessing, re-evaluating, it will keep you engaged with your board and goals. You will GROW, learn and stay FOCUSED!

I essentially used a very simplified vision board to help me when I quit smoking. All I had done at the time was write lists of reasons affirming me of why I needed to do it (my health, my baby…) and stuck them in relevant areas. Having one in my car was a big one when I was smoking.  It worked! It was there when I needed it.

You want your vision board somewhere you’ll see it everyday, and let’s face it, most of us have our phones with us everywhere, so it’s an ideal spot for your board.

Don’t have a lot of magazines? Not the scrapbook type?   Hate cutting and pasting!?  Printer ink is too expensive?  Takes a bit of the fun out of creating a vision board if these things are an issue.

You can find awesome inspirational photos online. But this is quite time consuming, and printing them can get expensive.

Guess what? You don’t need a poster board, school glue, hundreds of magazines, hours of cutting and pasting, or expensive printer ink to make a vision board! YAY!  Not to mention apps you have to pay for every month… that certainly isn’t going to help me reach my financial goals.

You can make a quick effective, editable, vision board right on your phone where you already have access to likely hundreds of relevant photos.  If you’re lacking a photo, all you have to do is make a quick trip online, on your phone, and save whatever photo you please to your photo library.

My First Phone Vision Board

That’s my vision board for this month just above. I chose to create a short-term focused one to help me achieve my immediate goals. I have a couple of my kids birthdays coming up so they are present, my mother because I love her and want to do something for her this month. I have pictures up there for a couple blog posts I want to get done.

With a free photo editor app, I added; Pray, Love, Inspire. Adding those important reminders really changed how it felt.

Just a day into having it on my phone, I have been reminded of some of the things I need to get done (got some cauliflower seeds started), and some of they ways I want to act (stopped grumbling about the kids mess!).  Sometimes, we just need a little encouragement, or a reminder.  Vision boards are wonderful for this.

From now I am I will definitely be snapping pictures and saving more pictures that I feel inspire me, or images that I see that speak to my heart to put on my monthly board.

If you don’t have the desire or time to create a big vision board for your home, this is a super easy option that you can still reap the benefits from.  Most of you probably know, or could easily figure out how to make one on your phone if you play around a little bit, but I put a step-by-step for you here as well just in case you don’t.  Though I’m sure it could be different on other phones, I hope it may help some one.

How to create a vision board on your phone

Step 1:  Go into your photos.

Step 2: At the bottom of the screen find the Albums icon. Click on it.

Step 3: Create a new Album by clicking on the little plus sign.

step 4: Name your Album: Vision Board.

Step 5: Add photos to your vision board. You may be prompted to do so. If not find the add icon near the top and click on that to select your photos. For my phone I was able to select 12 photos to make a nice grid.

Step 6: Now that your photos are all there, are they displayed in a nice 3×4 photo grid like mine below? If not you can click on the three dots … at the top right corner, scroll down and check to see if you are on the Aspect Ratio Grid, or square photo grid. I like the square photo grid best.

Step 7: Take a screen shot by pressing your home button and power button simultaneously.  This may be different depending on your phone as well. The screenshot should pop up on the screen. Click on it.

Step 8: Crop the screen shot to remove the icons, leaving the lovely grid of pictures. You can also take this opportunity to add some text to your board and try out some filters to brighten it up to your liking.

Step 9: Press DONE and you will be prompted to save your screen shot. Save it to your Photos.

Step 10: Access your new vision board in your photos and click the share icon. Its the icon in the bottom left corner. A box with an arrow pointed up.

Step 10: Select Use as Wallpaper. When you do, it may give you the option to use it for both your wall paper and screen saver. I recommend doing both. You’ll see it more then!

Step 11: Go into your album each month to edit your board change out pictures, revisit your goals, celebrate victories and stay focused.

And that does it.  Now let’s do it!

Every time I swipe down I can see my vision board and be reminded what I love most, and what I need to do.

I have something you need to add to your vision board. LEARN TO CROCHET.

It’s such a beloved hobby of mine. Relaxing and rewarding. Want to learn?
