Modern Crochet Purse with Leather Straps
You can make this purse in a DAY.
Materials Required:
- Loops and Threads Chunky Twist Yarn in Light Grey – 82 yards, 76 meters
- 16mm Hook
- 2 leather straps (23.5”) a little longer could work as well, or shorter if you don’t want over the shoulder. Here is a link to the ones I got. https://www.amazon.ca/Leather-Handles-Handbag-Making-Supp…
- Strong upholstery thread in brown or corresponding colour to the straps you chose
- Large darning needle or a smaller crochet hook to weave in ends

Gauge: 4.5 stitches and 5.5 rows in 4”
NOTE: This pattern is worked tightly with a 16mm hook. You could easily increase the hook size to make a larger bag or loosen the tension keeping in mind it will affect the stretch and how much yarn you’ll require.
Size: This bag measures 11-12” wide by 8” tall.
One thing I will note is that the bag is fairly heavy! So if you have arthritis or another health condition that could make a bag burdensome, I don’t recommend this for you.
My husband got me some of this yarn and new GIANT hooks for my birthday and well, I am so glad! I LOVE my purse. I may consider a magnetic snap closure, but I don’t think it needs it.
