So soft and fluffy! This pattern uses Bernat Blanket Yarn which is a 100% polyester, chenille-style yarn that works up fast, and is easy to care for. You’ll need approximately 280-300 yards in the color Vanilla to complete the pattern, along with a small amount of Black Bernat Blanket Yarn for the ears.

I’ve seen some complete this project with pink for the ears which is equally as adorable. Though, I love how the black buttons contrast with the Vanilla.

You’ll also require twelve – 1″ wide, plastic buttons for this project.

The Stitches

You’ll create the body of the sleep sack using the double crochet and a bobble stitch. There is step by step instruction on how to create this special stitch in the pattern.

You’ll also employ the single crochet to create the border and buttonholes.

The Pattern

The gauge is provided and should be checked. The sack is designed to snuggle a 0-3 month old baby.

First, you create the front ‘panel’ by making rows of bobble stitch and double crochet. This is followed by a trim of single crochet where you’ll create the button holes.

Next you create the back piece and hood, then sew both panels together.

Add some sweet ears, place and sew on the buttons and you’re finished.

Time Commitment

If you are a speedy, seasoned crocheter, you could easily start and finish this project in 2-3 days depending on your stamina. Of course everyone crochets at their own pace and posses a different skill set. If you are still a beginner, I would give yourself a least a few weeks.

Finished Project

When finished the sleep sack should measure approximately 23” long (from the tip of the hood to the bottom), and 13” wide. As mentioned before, this yarn is easy to care for. It can be laundered in the washer and dryer. I normally always use the delicates setting for any crocheted items, just because.

The bobble stitch creates an awesome texture in this piece and the soft, warm yarn provides the perfect environment for a good sleep! Good sleep = Happy baby! It’s also much easier to do a sneaky put down when their asleep if they’re all cuddled and cozy in there.

You can see my little guy enjoyed lying in his sleep sack when he played with one of his activity toys on the floor.

This pattern is one of my best-sellers! I would love to know what you think as well.
